6 Simple Exercises To Help You Get In Shape Fast

6 Simple Exercises To Help You Get In Shape Fast
Written by Michael

Sometimes getting in shape can be a little intimidating, especially when you feel like you’ve let yourself go or you were never a gym buff in the first place.

People can do some wild things with weights and machines, but if you’re just getting started, you don’t need to go crazy.

How Can I Get In Shape ASAP?

Here are 6 simple exercises to help you get in shape fast - without hiring a personal trainer or injuring yourself.

6. Squats

Squats are a full-body fitness staple that work the hips, glutes, quads, and hamstrings, and sneakily strengthen the core. Squats may help improve balance and coordination, as well as bone density.

You may hate them now, but you’re going to love them when you feel how much stronger you’re becoming thanks to this classic bodyweight exercise (you can add weight later if you’re looking for a challenge).

We love squats because they engage almost all major muscle groups in one simple movement. You hit your hips, core, back, and legs. If you want to get in shape fast, you’ve got to get squatting.

5. Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks function as cardiovascular, strengthening and stress-relieving exercises. Make them part of a daily or weekly fitness plan and modify them to meet your fitness goals.

Another classic. Jumping jacks are a great cardiovascular exercise because they get the heart rate up fast.

One key move for getting in shape fast is quick bursts of energy alternated with brief resting periods.

Jumping jacks are also a nice workout because you can start slow and gradually speed up as you get more in shape.

4. The Plank

The plank is one of the best exercises you can do for your core because it builds isometric strength to help sculpt your waistline and improve your posture.

Want to get your abs burning quick? Try out the plank.

Get down in a push-up position, though with your wrists flat on the ground. Keep your body streamlined by tightening your abs and butt.

Don’t let your body sag and don’t forget to breathe. Hold the position for as long as you can - 30 seconds to 1 minute is a good place to start.

3. Swimming

Swimming can make over your muscles, transform you into a cardio god or goddess, and turn back the aging clock. Need more reason to suit up?

Swimming makes the list because it’s a great way of getting a cardio workout without the pressure and pain of slamming your feet down on pavement or working out with weights.

If you’re struggling to get in shape with sore muscles and tired joints, make sure to incorporate some swimming into your workout routine.

2. Arm Circles

Arm circles are an easy exercise you can do anywhere, and require little time, yet reap great benefits when you do them regularly.

They look really simple. You think, Hey, I can do that! And then you start moving your arms. Gravity does a lot to challenge your muscles, and after a while, you’ll get sore.

Arm circles help you tone up and strengthen your arms and shoulders. They’re also a great warm-up for harder exercises.

1. One-Leg Deadlifts

This exercise - often referred to as the non-surgical butt lift - is unique in that it allows you to learn how to stabilize on one leg, while training each side of your body without favoring or over-compensating.

Deadlifts are a personal trainer’s favorite, and one-leg deadlifts are a good way to start doing them without the bar and heavy weights.

Stand hip width apart and bend forward from the waist, lifting one leg off the floor until it’s in line with your torso, parallel to the floor.

Move back to standing, repeat 8-10 times, then switch legs. You’ll work your hips, glutes, and legs, and you’ll also challenge your core strength and balance to improve.

Getting in shape doesn’t have to be horribly difficult, exhausting, or weight-intensive. Try out these 6 exercises the next time you hit the gym (or the living room or wherever).

We’re sure you’ll get sweating, and you’ll be getting a great start on your journey to a fit bod and healthier life.
