Powerlifting Prodigy Sahil Sofat Clinches Bronze at World Junior Championship
Sahil Sofat, a young powerlifter from the industrial town of Mandi Gobindgarh, has made his nation proud by bagging a bronze medal at the World Junior Powerlifting Championship in Romania.
His triumphant return to his hometown was met with a warm welcome from residents, politicians, social leaders, and officials.

At a reception function, Municipal Council president Harpreet Singh Prince praised Sahil, saying, “At the age when children were busy with mobile phones, Sahil made the town residents proud by hoisting the country’s flag in a foreign land.”
In honor of Sahil’s achievement, the council plans to build a powerlifting stadium in his name, setting a powerful example for the town’s youth.
Sahil, who competed in the sub-junior 93-kg category, shared that participants from around 55 countries took part in the championship.
He also revealed that he had qualified for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. He said he owes this victory to my family, coach, and teachers, humbly attributing his success to his support system.
