Choosing the best strategy for managing diabetes surely isn't easy. There are many obvious medical dependencies that people with diabetes have, but at the same time, they might be able to achieve healthy blood sugar levels through dietary supplements as well.

One of the supplements I make sure all my diabetic clients is a daily multivitamin that has the right ingredients to support insulin sensitivity and sugar absorption. It has done wonders so far.

However, diabetic patients shouldn’t rush to buy just any vitamins and minerals as not all of them have the right combination of nutrients you’ll need.

With the help of a nutritionist, we have been able to create a list of multivitamin and mineral supplements that you should focus on.

Don’t Ignore The Minerals

It happens too often that people just focus on most vitamins, but minerals often play an equally important role, especially when it comes to insulin sensitivity.

During our research, we did find that the majority of multivitamin supplements also contained minerals like chromium, zinc, magnesium, and calcium.

Always check the label for these nutrients to get the best results.

Be Careful With Hidden Ingredients

If you stick with tablet or capsule type supplements, then you shouldn’t really encounter problematic ingredients. But during our research, we did come across a few powder supplements that also contained added sugars and artificial sweeteners.

Get Your Intake Timing Right

Some of the best multivitamins above come as a once a day capsule, while others may require two or more. From a timing perspective, I generally advise taking them at the same time every day, and you can basically choose which meal you take them with.

The time of day at which a person takes a supplement will rarely make a difference, except in reducing the risk of some rare adverse effects of specific B vitamins.

Which Vitamins Raise Blood Sugar Levels?

Some studies suggest that vitamin B3 might raise blood sugar levels, which could be a problem for diabetic patients. If you see a supplement that contains B3, then make sure you consult your doctor before taking it.

What Is a Good Vitamin for Type 2 Diabetes?

A good vitamin for type 2 diabetes is vitamin D. Studies have shown that vitamin D may be linked to both insulin production and effectiveness, which may help balance blood glucose levels of diabetic patients.

Which Multivitamin Supplement Should You Try First?

Of all the supplements we tested out and reviewed with our nutritionist, Ritual Multivitamin managed to come out on top.

With the right combination of vitamins and minerals, it doesn’t just aim to target insulin sensitivity but also has a lot of positive reports about slowing down the body’s sugar absorption rate.

Once you order yours, make sure to track how your glucometer readings change.

  1. Is there niacin on this products? What if a person is allergic to niacin? Anything I take with this in it causes my face to swell, my eyes to close, and my body to break out in an itching rash all over? So anything with Niacin in it is something I avoid.

  2. Is there any significant difference between the best multivitamin for diabetic females vs males?
