I’ve been a fan of Jacked Factory products for several years, and there are some of their supplements that we have recommended as well.

But with pre-workout supplements, you have to be extra careful when it comes to choosing a product that has the best kind of formula and dosage. When we saw new marketing for Jacked Factory Altius, we decided to do some more research.

With the help of 11 clients and my dietitian, we looked at the formula and tested it out over a four-week period.

Here’s what we found for this Altius Pre-Workout review.

What Is Altius Pre-Workout?

Altius Pre-Workout close up image

Altius is a pre-workout supplement from Jacked Factory that claims to deliver a clinically dosed formula to improve your workout performance.

Like other pre-workouts, it’s entirely based on natural ingredients, including beta-alanine, betaine, and L-citrulline.

More on these shortly.

Jacked Factory also claims that it will deliver great muscle pumps and will help with muscle recovery. These are all things that we carefully looked at during our testing phase.

What we found interesting is that this supplement was first introduced in 2018, and the formula has stayed exactly the same. Sometimes that can be a good sign that it was carefully planned from the start and that the quality and effectiveness stand the test of time.

Benefits And Highlights

To gain a better understanding of how well it works, we started by going through a week of training without any pre-workouts to get a baseline of training data.

Then we went through three weeks of training with it and gathered the data for this Jacked Factory Altius review.

Boosted Strength

Overall, our test results showed that we could add a few more pounds to barbells and do some more reps.

It’s not like you build up lean muscle mass like The Hulk overnight, but the creatine dose looks good enough to make a difference [1].

We also noted increased muscle pump and vascularity, which is a nice bonus for bodybuilders.

Reduced Fatigue

A person exercising without fatigue

Looking at our training notes and paying close attention to muscle soreness after training, we noted that this is one area where Jacked Factory could improve things.

The combination of ingredients doesn’t quite fully support reduced fatigue and soreness, and I’d like to see more beta-alanine in this pre-workout.

Supplement Form

Jacked Factory Altius comes in powder form that you mix with cold water. The company says that it only uses natural flavors and sweeteners, which is a good thing.

But we weren’t hugely impressed with the flavor. The Mixed Berry Blast is quite sour, and you’d need to water it down quite a lot to make it more enjoyable.

Key Ingredients

Supplement Facts of Jacked Factory Altius

Next, I got my dietitian to do a detailed analysis of the label and ingredients to see if there is enough to support that this Altius pre-workout supplement is indeed scientifically formulated.

The first positive was that Jacked Factory is not hiding behind proprietary blends like so many other pre-workouts do. That makes stacking so much easier.

Let’s take a closer look.

Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine monohydrate is common in pre-workout supplements for men and has been scientifically proven to help with muscle performance [2].

The dose of 3 grams per scoop is pretty good and in line with some of the other pre-workout products that we recommend.

And the creatine supplementation would explain that we got better results for overall strength during resistance training.

Beta-Alanine

Jacked Factory has also added 3.2 grams because beta-alanine has been tied to energy levels and muscle fatigue [3]. The one thing I would say, though, is that the dosage could be higher, and most scientific studies used a lot more.

Some of the products that we recommend to clients would have up to 40% more beta-alanine, and it seems like that works better for reduced muscle fatigue.

“Beta-alanine is the building block of carnosine, a molecule that helps buffer acid in muscles. Beta-alanine supplementation improves performance during high-intensity exercise lasting from 1 to 10 minutes.”

- Michael Murray, RDN, CSCS, CISSN, Examine.com

L-Citrulline

Muscular person pumping his muscles

L-citrulline has been linked to nitric oxide production and levels in the body, and that can directly impact your muscle pump and vascularity [4].

Jacked Factory has added 8 grams to the formula, and that is at the high end of what’s available on the pre-workout market.

We also found that Altius did deliver when it came to pumps, even when we tried it as a half scoop.

Betaine

This amino acid is another one we like to see in a pre-workout product, and clinical trials have shown that it can help with strength and endurance [5].

What we did note, though, is that trials used a higher dosage to build up muscle mass in a noticeable way.

This might also explain why we didn’t feel it fully delivered on fatigue.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a great ingredient for workout performance, and Jacked Factory has included a potent dose of 325 mg [6].

That’s about the same as three cups of coffee and something you have to keep in mind with timing.

If you tend to go training later in the day, then this could mess up your sleep patterns.

If you’re sensitive to stimulants, then you might want to take half a scoop or choose a stim-free pre-workout altogether.

Pros
  • A solid dose of L-citrulline to bring on a better muscle pump
  • Strong caffeine dose helps with focus and motivation
  • The company doesn’t hide behind a proprietary blend
Cons
  • The flavor is a bit too sour tasting for a pre-workout
  • It could work better for muscle fatigue

Does It Have Downsides?

Yes, Altius has three downsides that we noticed during testing.

First of all, it has a huge caffeine dose that is definitely on the upper end of what you’ll find in pre-workouts.

I’m not really sensitive to stimulants, but I definitely felt a tingling sensation after taking Altius.

This lasted for about an hour and is something you need to keep in mind.

The other thing we did like so much was the flavor. It’s quite sour tasting, and that meant mixing in more water.

And finally, while it did build up some more strength for training, we didn’t think it delivered enough for reduced fatigue.

How Does It Compare To Other Products?

Comparison between and Altius Pre Workout

One advantage we have when we do these tests is that we have data from testing out dozens of pre-workout supplements.

So, we decided that we would take a closer look at three other products that we generally recommend.

And we found some interesting results.

First up is Gorilla Mode pre-workout. It's similar to Altrius for boosting nitric oxide levels and triggering a great pump effect.

But it stands out because we also found that it has clinical doses of L-tyrosine, which can help improve brain activity to keep you focused and motivated for longer [7].

We also had a similar result with 4 Gauge pre-workout, which is another supplement with a strong dose of caffeine and L-theanine.

This combination has been scientifically proven to help with alertness, which helps you to stay more focused on your sets [8].

And finally, there’s Transparent Labs. The great thing with this company is that you can choose a pre-workout with and without stimulants.

That’s particularly helpful if you tend to work out later in the day and don't want to mess up your sleep.

Who Should Take Altius Pre-Workout?

Anyone looking for good pumps pre-workouts and a decent energy boost could consider taking the Altius pre-workout supplement.

And if you tend to stack your pre-workouts with other products, then the fact that Altrius doesn’t have proprietary blends is also a bonus.

The high dose of caffeine is something that some bodybuilders look for to gain more focus during training, but that’s something to factor in for timing, especially if you’re also a coffee drinker.

Who Shouldn't Take Altius Pre-Workout?

A man with chest pain

Anyone with significant underlying health conditions, especially cardiovascular problems, shouldn’t take Altius pre-workout.

The huge dose of caffeine could impact people who have heart issues like high blood pressure [9].

I would also say that anyone training later in the day would need to avoid this product to avoid having a bad night's sleep.

And if you’re looking for maximum muscle growth, then I think Latius won’t quite have you covered.

It provides decent results, but not as good as some other products I mentioned above, which can also work out cheaper in the long term.

Where Can You Buy It?

A shopping cart miniature on top of a laptop

You can buy Altius on Amazon and directly on the Jack Factory website, and that’s generally where I would advise people to go.

There have been too many reports of dodgy online stores and retailers selling counterfeit products, and that’s not something you can take a chance with for a pre-workout supplement.

The company offers a decent subscription discount, and it took about four days for delivery.

But we did see a few comments online that people were sometimes waiting for over a week to receive their orders.

Other User Reviews

Here are a few online reviews we found that support some of the things we noticed as well.

“Pretty good. Upsets your stomach if training without food (which I have to because of my schedule) is kind of pricey for only 20 servings. Sometimes I have to take 1 1/2 scoops, so it would only last about 2 weeks or so.”

- Evan M, The Official Website

“This stuff is amazing. The flavor takes some getting used to, but the benefits are worth it.”

- Jack, The Official Website

“First off, the flavor is not great, super salty maybe, I don’t know, but It didn’t go down easily. The feeling wasn’t quite the same and honestly made me a little nauseous though it did deliver some good energy.”
