Giving it your all in the gym may sometimes take a toll on your body.
Personally, I want to be able to give every single workout 100%, and so I don’t have time to wait for fatigued muscles to muster and heal. Which is the reason I initially started looking for something that would help improve muscle growth and reduce muscle soreness.
In this Scivation Xtend BCAA review, we’re going to look at the Xtend BCAA powder and what it serves up in response to that initial need.
What Is Xtend BCAA?
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are the building blocks of muscle protein. Supplements containing BCAAs have made a massive comeback in the fitness community.
They work as a pre-workout, intra-workout, or post-workout supplement that aims to aid in muscle recovery and to reduce muscle soreness.
They’re essential for those looking to push it to the limit and for those working with a caloric deficit who want to cut as it claims to also aid in energy production.
Scivation as a brand does have other products, but it’s for their BCAA Xtend supplements that they’re truly famous.
BCAAs Xtend is their flagship product, and it’s gained an excellent reputation in the fitness community for being the best there is.
Things To Consider Before Buying a BCAA
The first thing you need to consider before buying a BCAA powder is what you’re going to be using it for. This Xtend review will hopefully help you clear your goals in using BCAAs as a pre-workout, intra, or post-workout.
Most people use it to aid with muscle recovery, and that is the intended effect backed by research and formulation.
BCAA supplements are also gaining popularity for maintaining muscle mass during cutting periods or when at a caloric deficit.
While not the product’s primary purpose, there is growing science and study that supports this use. Some users also report that it helps in muscle building, but not a lot of published studies support this claim.
What’s In Xtend BCAA?
Ingredients will differ slightly depending on the specific product and flavor you pick. Still, the standard Scivation Xtend BCAAs all feature the standard 2:1:1 ratio of the essential amino acids, which is recognized as the optimal blend.
That is, 7 grams of BCAAs -- 3500mg l-leucine, 1750mg l-isoleucine, and 1750mg l-valine per serving.
Leucine is an essential amino acid, and together with isoleucine and valine, they make up the group of BCAAs that help in protein synthesis and muscle repair
Scivation Xtend BCAA doesn’t include any carbs or sugars and is proudly marketed as a zero-calorie product. This is one good point if you’re looking at taking whey protein or BCAA, as whey typically is high in calories.
What’s Good About Xtend BCAA?
I’ve paid far more for other supplements that don’t work as well or include a bunch of filler ingredients that don’t provide any further benefit.
It mixes well and tastes great with a wide range of different flavors available, making it easy for you to find a favorite. Some of the most popular options being Blue Raspberry, Watermelon, Lemon Lime, Pink Lemonade, Smash Apple, Strawberry Kiwi, Watermelon Explosion, and Blood Orange.
It is a strong juicy tasting drink providing you find that one that best matches your personal preferences goes down well before, during, or after any workout.
One of the best things about supplementing with Scivation Xtend BCAA, however, is that there are no known or proven side effects. So you can try it out for yourself with little to no concern about adverse reactions. This means it’s relatively risk-free and practically anyone can give a go and gauge the effects for themselves.
What’s Bad About Scivation Xtend BCAA?
We won’t go ahead without listing down the cons in this Xtend review.
Having a completely transparent ingredients list is a big tick in the pros column for a product, but it also opens you up to some criticism in some of the ingredients used.
For Xtend BCAA, the primary concerns would be the fact that while mostly clean, they rely on sucralose and acesulfame potassium for flavoring.
There is also the inclusion of glutamine and citrulline malate but only at minimal doses -- 2.5g and 1g per serving, respectively.
Citrulline malate does have some research to back its inclusion in a workout powder but at doses of 8 grams or higher, which is much more than what it is a standard serving of Scivation Xtend amino acids.
Neither of these ingredients is dangerous, though, and even at small doses may provide benefits to gut health (glutamine) and the circulatory system (citrulline malate).

There are a lot of different BCAA powders and recovery products on the market, but there are few with an excellent reputation and track record of Scivation Xtend BCAA. If you want a measure of the product, you need to look no further than the comments and reviews on the supplement itself.
If you’re looking to give yourself an extra push at the gym or to take your workout to the next level, then Xtend BCAA is a product that helps you recover faster to exercise longer and more frequently. The blend of proven ingredients have a significant effect, and the taste means you’ll look forward to including it in your post or pre-workout routine.
