Lipozene doesn't have the macho, standout branding that many other supplements and diet pills have these days. Instead, the bottle has a basic - almost medicinal - design.

The ingredients are a bit different from other supplements, too. Where most fat burner products have a mixture of ingredients to support weight loss from various angles, Lipozene contains just one: Amorphophallus konjac.

The Lipozene label has 'clinically proven' emblazoned across it, too. All these piqued our interest and inspired this Lipozene review.

Our question: Will Lipozene make you lose weight?

Or is it just one of those diet pills that don’t work?

Let's find out.

What is Lipozene?

Lipozene thumb

Lipozene is a weight loss supplement built around glucomannan - a soluble fiber that expands slightly when exposed to water.

The supplement leverages this effect to provide a feeling of fullness, meaning you feel the need to eat less as a result.

So, in short, Lipozene is a weight loss supplement with appetite suppressant properties.

The company behind the supplement is called Obesity Research Institute LLC, and they create products in the weight loss category. The company pride themselves on undertaking 'extensive' research before releasing each product [1].

Konjac fiber has been the subject of many scientific studies, which have found it to be effective in a weight loss context.

This scientific backing is a good vouch for the mechanism the Lipozene is built around.

Lipozene has some good reviews on Amazon, suggesting that it's a popular weight loss supplement. Many customers award 5 stars, although there's a healthy chunk of 1 star reviews, too.

What are the Lipozene ingredients?

vegetables

Lipozene comes in for praise straight off the bat - there's only one active ingredient, so no opportunity for the manufacturers to hide anything.

So many weight loss supplements and diet pills use blends as a way to include ingredients without saying how much.

While the main ingredient in Lipozene contains a 'proprietary blend,' this is just a mixture of several types of glucomannan powder - all of which have the same effect.

Having only one on the list has its problems, though. There are no natural stimulant ingredient in Lipozene - something the majority of fat burners feature, with the view to helping you exercise longer and harder.

There are no ingredients to boost metabolism either, nor any vitamins to help guard against obesity-causing deficiencies.

Again, the most effective weight loss supplements contain one (or all) of these things.

The lack of ingredients targeting metabolism is perhaps the thing that stands out most: Healthy metabolic processes mean you transport, store, and burn fat as efficiently as possible, meaning less is left around your body as reserves.

How Does Lipozene Work?

Lipozene thumb

Each serving of Lipozene is two capsules, containing 1500mg of amorphophallus konjac at 750mg per capsule.

They advise taking the capsule three times a day - one before each meal - putting the total at 4500mg.

Now let's look a bit more closely at the konjac plant as the main active ingredient in Lipozene, to get an idea of how it works.

As a water soluble fiber, glucomannan as Lipozene's main ingredient expands on exposure to water.

It's found in the amorphophallus plant, and provides a feeling of fullness when it expands and promotes gut health.

Taking glucomannan powder may reduce body weight [3] as well as cholesterol. It may also lower blood sugar and triglyceride levels. Thus, taking Lipozene diet pills may have similar effects.

This expansion - up to 50x its original size [2] - means the fiber takes up more space in your stomach. As a result, there's less space for high-calorie food, and you feel full more quickly, thus may help you lose weight.
The ingredient glucomannan has been medically reviewed as the subject of studies, with some finding it more effective than placebo for weight loss. Some clinical studies negate this claim, and others say it can help you lose weight but has no effect on your BMI [4, 5, 6].

Food safety, authorities have noted a cause and effect relationship between glucomannan and weight loss [7]. As we said earlier, 3g (3000mg) is cited as the optimal dose.

It’s worth noting here that taking Lipozene as recommended - 3 servings of 1500mg per day - you exceed the amount considered to be the safe optimum.

Lipozene Benefits

The main health benefits of Lipozene are its simplicity, and its potential ability to reduce your appetite and calorie consumption.

The numerous studies into glucomannan's efficacy also play in its favor, although there's a mismatch between the optimal amount for body weight loss and the amount you'll find in a daily dose.

Other benefits have been attributed to glucomannan, including a potential reduction of fat, cholesterol, and sugar absorption in your gut. Additionally, it may reduce blood sugar, improve triglyceride levels, and promote better gut health apart from potentially helping you lose weight.

It’s low in calories, too, helping you to eat less high-calorie food and instead replacing it in your digestive system with a low-calorie alternative.

And (yes, there’s more) there are links between glucomannan and healthier gut bacteria. As a probiotic, glucomannan is a dietary fiber thought to contribute to the health of your microbiota - the complex ecosystem that lives in your digestive system and aids with smooth digestion [8].

In layman’s terms, this means that the ingredient glucomannan as a dietary fiber may make you feel full for longer, help cleanse your gut, and address digestive issues like constipation.

Browsing bodybuilding forums and Lipozene reviews, we found people praising this product for its lack of caffeine - something that's common in many other weight loss supplements and diet pills in this category. A caffeine-free weight loss formula is excellent if you don't like stimulants.

Glucomannan is also all-natural: Something many supplement users find essential. All in all, it's a supplement offering a fair few benefits.

Konjac root’s fiber has a very low calorie content but is very high in fiber. Similar to many vegetables, this is a combination that promotes a healthy waist line. Of course, the rest of your diet has to be healthy, and you also need to be exercising regularly.

Does Lipozene have any side effects?

side effects

Lipozene has a few potential side effects, all byproducts of glucomannan.

Most of the time it's safe, but if used outside the recommended dosage, may cause discomfort or even be dangerous. There are fewer potential side effects than some other supplements, thanks to the smaller content list.

The may be attributed to glucomannan's ability to expand. If not washed down with liquid, it is possible that this expansion could occur in your throat.

In some Lipozene reviews, users experience discomfort when they ingest too much of the pill than recommended. The same feeling as if you'd overeaten.

To avoid these side effects, you should follow the instructions on the bottle to the letter. Here are the instructions:

Take 2 capsules 30 minutes before meals, with at least 8oz (about 240ml) of water.

Taking more than advised - or using less water than recommended - increases the risks of side effects.

Bear this in mind if you take other supplements: You should ensure that the combined glucomannan amount does not exceed the safe dose (3g per day).

There's also a note on the bottle saying not to take this supplement if you have trouble swallowing.

Note: This review does not constitute medical advice.

Where can you buy Lipozene?

You can buy Lipozene from the official company website. It's also available at Amazon, Walmart, and GNC. It's sold over the counter too, meaning that this isn't a hard supplement to get hold of in the US.

Is Lipozene gluten-free?

Yes, Lipozene is gluten-free. We've already mentioned the minimal list of ingredients, and none of the stuff that binds the capsule together or forms the casing contains gluten. It's compatible with a celiac diet, or voluntary avoidance of gluten.

Is Lipozene all-natural?

Yes, Lipozene is all-natural. Glucomannan is extracted from a plant (amorphophallus konjac), as we've seen. The capsules are made from naturally occurring ingredients, too.

Is Lipozene safe?

There is nothing to indicate that Lipozene is specifically unsafe during pregnancy, or for elderly people. Safety concerns arise from the side effects mentioned previously, and elderly people are more likely to have difficulty swallowing. If you're concerned about the safety of Lipozene, we recommend speaking with a doctor or qualified health professional.

Does Lipozene give you energy?

Glucomannan, the active ingredient in Lipozene, is not a stimulant, so there is no indication that it will give you energy as a supplement. Because of the appetite suppression effects, and the resulting reduction in the food you consume, you may find yourself with less energy than you'd otherwise have.

Do We Recommend Lipozene?

Lipozene diet pills may work well for people who want a simple weight loss supplement to reduce their appetite and cravings.

There are, however, better glucomannan based pills available on the market. For many people, a product with more ingredients may present a better option.

One that comes at weight loss from several, complementary directions, rather than just appetite suppression.

One such product that I recommend to my female clients is Leanbean, a female-focused fat burner that also has konjac root and all the other ingredients that Lipozene lacks.

And if you’re looking for another medically reviewed pill that may help you lose weight, you may also look at PhenQ - a product my dietitian and I recommend to some of my male clients.
