Doug "Censor" Martin, aka FaZe Censor, is one of the most followed gamers globally, and I became aware of him after he branched out into the fitness world.
His social media platforms are not just about Call of Duty anymore, but much more about fitness and getting ripped. And that’s why people have been accusing him of cheating with steroids and "running gear."
As a personal trainer, I see many guys take shortcuts like that, but there are always signs that come with steroid use.
So, I spent a couple of weeks researching Censor by looking at hundreds of photos and videos to see if I could find some real evidence that he took some juice.
Quick Summary
- Faze Censor isn't on steroids, and has attained his bulked muscles through consistent workouts over the years, which have changed his overall appearance.
- Testosterone boosters, and whey protein supplements might have helped him get more muscles, and improve his performance when working out.
- Faze Censor also takes healthy meals that comprise high protein levels, and more healthy carbs.
Does FaZe Censor Take Steroids?
Doug Censor has repeatedly denied taking any form of performance enhancers and has addressed his physique on a few occasions.
In one post from 2019 on Twitter, he even showed off some photos from when he was a skinny 17-year-old compared to what he looks like today.
There's a definite bulking process going on there, but I wouldn’t say that he achieved massive bodybuilder proportions.
So let's take a closer look at some key areas of his physique.
Why Do People Believe Doug Censor Took Steroids?

I went through endless YouTube video posts to better understand how Doug Censor changed his appearance over time. Here’s what tell-tale signs I looked for:
Extreme Vascularity
All bodybuilders will have pumping veins when lifting weights. But steroid users can often have very visible veins all over their bodies even when relaxing [1].
Now, because Doug Censor usually wears a tank top or is even shirtless on YouTube, it was easy to check for constantly pumped-up veins. This isn't an issue he's dealing with, from what I can tell.
His veins pop up only while or after training. He is maybe taking supplements for pump and vascularity and that's why he looks so good on photos and videos.
Large Breast Tissue
It's important to say that this is not the same as having large pecs. Steroid users can encounter gynecomastia, which is soft and fatty tissue around the chest [2].
While there is medication to deal with this, it's easy to spot when it happens, and I couldn't find any photos of Doug Censor with a flabby chest.
Fast Bulking Process
And finally, if you see someone who becomes ripped or suddenly looks like The Hulk in a few months, then it's a good sign that they have taken steroids [3].
According to Doug and the photos he has shared about his physique over time, it took him seven years to bulk up and get as toned as he is today.
That doesn't seem like a fast process to me, and because he's not built like Hulk Hogan, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he's running gear.
“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”

What Would It Take To Bulk Up Like Doug Censor?

You need to focus on two things if you want to get a toned body without being on juice.
Diet & Supplements
No matter how much lifting you do at the gym, it will all be for nothing if you don't have the right diet. What you'll need to get ripped and toned is a lot more healthy carbs and protein [4].
The carbs should provide enough energy for the workouts, and the protein helps with recovery and muscle building. You can improve muscle recovery by adding whey protein to your diet.
But you can also speed things up a bit naturally and legally with a bulking stack. This includes supplements with natural ingredients that aim to boost your testosterone production and give you more endurance during training.
Tough Training
It'll take a lot of hard work at the gym to get that toned. Aim for 90-minute workouts five days a week and then stick with that religiously for five years.
Doug claims he was working on his body for seven years, which would not be unusual. But considering that he's not the biggest guy, I would say that it's possible to do in four or five years.
Was Doug Censor Tested For Steroid Use?

As far as I can tell from my research, Doug Censor hasn't been tested for anabolic drugs.
The main reason is that he doesn't take part in professional or amateur sporting events where such testing is usually a requirement.
FAQs
Why Did Faze Drop Censor?
FaZe dropped Censor mainly because he was looking for the next stage as a pro gamer. His goal was to join Call of Duty New York, which he announced on YouTube.
Does Faze Censor Have Health Issues Due to Steroids?
No, Censor doesn't have health issues due to steroid use. He hasn't shown any physical signs of drugs since he has started training. Some of these, like acne and kidney failure, would be very obvious to notice.
Final Verdict: Is Doug Censor Natty?
Based on the fact that he didn't get ripped in a few months or years and that he doesn't look like Hulk Hogan, I believe that he probably hasn't cheated.
As a fitness coach, I have helped many people achieve similar results over several years with the right combination of diet and workouts. But rather than just rely on protein shakes for your muscle building, I would suggest speeding things up with our recommended legal and healthy steroid substitutes for men.
It might not be as fast working as real steroids, but it's a much safer way to significantly fast-track your goals.
