It's always an interesting situation to be in where our team has a discussion about two pre-workout supplements from the same company.

Gorilla Mode and Gorilla Mode Energy are the ones that caused our most recent debate, and after presenting our arguments and putting the thing to a vote, we came up tied. So, we pulled in a dietitian and 12 clients to help us with the proper research and testing.

After four weeks, we had some data for a subjective but informed decision on which product to recommend to our readers and clients.

Here's what we found.

Key Differences Between Gorilla Mode And Gorilla Mode Energy

The main difference between Gorilla Mode and Gorilla Mode Energy is that the first one has a more extensive list of ingredients.

Gorilla Mode Energy is basically a cut-down version of Gorilla Mode as it doesn't have any unique ingredients. But it's missing a few ingredients that could turn things in favor of Gorilla Mode.

More on the detailed ingredients shortly.

Gorilla Mode also comes in a wider variety of flavors to choose from.

That can be helpful if you tend to be picky with the tastes of supplements and like to have as many options as possible to avoid getting bored with them.

Let's take a closer look at some details.

Features Head to Head

Here are the most important things to consider before you decide on one of these products.

Both products contain Caffeine anhydrous, L-Tyrosine, Kanna, N-Phenethyl Dimethylamine Citrate, Bioperine, and Huperzine A. But they contain them in slightly different dosages.

For these ingredients, Gorilla Mode Energy has a higher dosage, and that's why some on our team concluded that it would be the better product.

And while all the above-listed ingredients are scientifically proven, it's important to look at the unique ones in Gorilla Mode as well.

I'll get to them in more detail shortly, but our dietitian highlighted betaine and creatine. It has been well-studied that creatine can help boost strength during resistance training [1].

The only natural way to tell how effective pre-workouts are is to have a baseline week.

So, we got our team and volunteer clients to go through a regular week of training and record all their weights, sets, and reps as a control.

Then we spent a week doing the same training with Gorilla Mode and another one with Gorilla Mode Energy.

Overall, the effects of both products were impressive. But we could prove our dietitian's point that the extra ingredients in Gorilla Mode helped give us better training data.

We consistently saw more weight added to sets and more reps completed, and our clients also said they felt more energized and motivated with it. All these benefits ensure you can reach your weight loss and fitness goals faster.

Supplement Form

Both products come in powder form, but it's important to compare the serving size. A Gorilla Mode scoop is just over 14 g, and Gorilla Mode Energy is just 3.6 g.

That means that the Energy version dissolves quicker and more easily in water, but it's only a case of waiting a few more seconds with Gorilla Mode.

Both products come with similar flavor options. But Gorilla Mode Energy is currently only available in six flavors, while there are 11 available for Gorilla Mode.

I like having more options with supplements as I tend to get bored with the same flavor easily. And if you're picky with flavors, then you have a few more choices to find the ideal one and switch it up when you need to.

Gorilla Mode Energy costs $39 per tub, and Gorilla Mode is more expensive at $49.

However, it's important to keep in mind that you get a lot more ingredients and physical effects with Gorilla Mode.

So, just deciding on the price is not a good idea with these particular products.

Unique Supplement Features

To get a better understanding of why our test results favored Gorilla Mode, we had a closer look at the unique ingredients. As you can see below, Gorilla Mode Energy only has one unique ingredient, and that doesn't seem to have a direct impact on training performance.

Gorilla Mode

Here are the ingredients of Gorilla Mode that were most interesting to us and what science says about them.

  • L-Tyrosine: This amino acid has been tied to both mental and physical fatigue levels and would explain why our testing team said that they felt more focused and motivated [2].
  • L-Citrulline: L-citrulline is one of the most studied ingredients when it comes to nitric oxide levels and muscle pumps [3].
  • Creatine: You'll find this ingredient in many pre-workouts, and we were surprised that Gorilla Mind decided not to include it in the Energy version. It's linked to improved muscle building and strength levels [4].
  • GlycerPump: This is a branded version of glycerol, and there is reliable evidence to suggest it impacts overall strength and exercise performance [5].
  • Betaine: Here's another amino acid that has been extensively studied to show a direct link to performance levels [6].

l-citrulline is a unique amino acid that exerts its effects on cardiometabolic health via direct and indirect pathways. The variety of applications for which l-citrulline has been utilized underscores the importance of l-citrulline in vascular health, protein metabolism, and lipid metabolism.

Overall, this is a great combination of ingredients and combined with the ones that both products share, they give Gorilla Mode the edge to get more out of your workouts.
