As a certified personal trainer, many of my clients who are just beginning their fitness journey are eager to do everything to give their bodies a jumpstart, including taking pre-workouts.

Many hear the gym chatter about these supplements, and one that I keep getting asked about recently is Wrecked.

Along with our nutritionist, I spent a lot of time working with a few of these clients, getting their diet and exercise routines consistent. After several weeks of their commitment and solid progress, we added Wrecked Pre-workout to the regiment.

Here’s what we learned.

What is Wrecked Pre-workout?

Wrecked Pre-Workout close up image

Wrecked Pre-workout is a dietary supplement that promises to take workout performance and intensity to the next level by being highly potent pre workout on the market.

Wrecked Pre-workout contains 17 natural ingredients that significantly boost your focus, energy, and pumps.

We used these criteria as a basis for our review as our testers took a couple of weeks taking this supplement before working out.

We’ll take a closer look at some of the key ingredients shortly.

Wrecked hit the market in 2018. As of April 2022, Huge Supplements is promoting a new formula that increases the doses of some core ingredients while swapping out some others, promising an even more packed and potent pre-workout.

Benefits and Highlights

When doing this Wrecked Pre-workout review, we had our testers conduct a regular workout and diet routine for a week without taking any pre-workouts, followed by two weeks of the same diet and exercise routine and adding Wrecked.

We noted the following target areas that the manufacturer promised would crush your workouts: energy, focus, and pumps.

Let’s look at some Wrecked Pre-workout ingredients and see if they live up to the promise.

Energy

Most men's pre-workout supplements include one or more stimulants to give you energy and focus for a workout. Our group noticed a good bit of energy increase that lasted through their training.

Based on one of the articles found on the BioMed Central website, athletes have long used caffeine in various forms for its proven ability to boost energy and focus for exercise [1].

The caffeine content in Wrecked is caffeine anhydrous and equals about 2.5 cups of coffee to give you a solid boost, and remember, it's not the only stimulant on the ingredient list.

Like caffeine, theobromine is a stimulant, and one of the studies found on the PubMed website shows that theobromine has performance-enhancing effects to the point the review suggested it was a candidate for the banned substances list of the World Anti-Doping Agency [2].

Di-caffeine malate, a combination of caffeine and malic acid, is commonly added by many supplement manufacturers and marketed as aiding caffeine with the crash or upset stomach some users experience.

Wrecked Pre-workout includes a few other stimulant-like ingredients to increase energy and workout efficiency: Hordenine HCL, Higenamine HCL, and N-Methyltyramine.

Focus

Focus

While caffeine anhydrous di-caffeine malate, and other stimulants may increase focus and give you energy, a few ingredients in the Wrecked formula specifically target focus.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is a popular ingredient in many supplements that want to promote cognitive function, though the reality is there is insufficient evidence that Lion's mane mushroom does this [3].

L-tyrosine’s actual effectiveness on athletic performance and cognitive function is unclear. We know that it is involved in producing neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine [4].

While our group of testers felt a significant kick and an energized workout from the stimulants in the formula, they did feel their workouts lacked the laser focus promised on the label.

Pumps

When looking to gain massive pumps, a boost to nitric oxide is critical. There are many pre-workouts with a higher dose of nitric oxide and they usually work as a vasodilator.

It is easy to understand how it works because increases blood flow which means more oxygen and nutrients to the hard-working muscles for better pumps [5].

Wrecked Pre-workout contains S7, a clinically tested, plant-based, patented blend of green coffee bean extract, green tea extract, turmeric extract, tart cherry, blueberry, broccoli, and kale. The Future Ceuticals website claims S7 will boost nitric oxide by 230%.

VasoDrive-ap is a milk protein that the manufacturer claims improves cardiovascular functions by lowering blood pressure and increasing cardiovascular function in athletic activity. However, these claims are not entirely substantiated [6].

I think Himalayan pink salt is a solid addition to the pump-increasing lineup as it provides electrolytes and helps maintain hydration throughout an intense workout [7].

In the couple of weeks, our trial group used Wrecked as part of their fitness routine; they reported some improvement in pumps. Nothing close, however, to the “skin-tearing muscle pumps” Huge Supplements website promises.

“Caffeine increases alertness and decreases fatigue by blocking adenosine from binding to its receptor.”

Downsides of Wrecked Pre-workout

While Wrecked Pre-workout is good, we noted some downsides in our trial. Most of the users in our test group did not care for the flavors.

Offering, raspberry mojito, bomb popsicle, peach ring, and rainbow burst were too fruity and sweet and a bit artificial for the personal tastes of our testers. We read many online reviews supporting this also.

Huge Supplements Wrecked Pre-workout markets Wrecked Pre-workout as highly potent pre workout you can buy.

Besides the considerable energy kick, our users felt it lacked a little something for focus and pumps to be considered highly potent pre workout.

Perhaps the new formula needs a little work in ingredients and dosages to take that title.

We noticed they dropped the 25 serving to 20 in the tub with the unveiling of the new formula, which is always disappointing when the price point is the same.

How It Compares To Other Pre-Workouts

Comparison to other pre workout supplement products

In our testing, Wrecked performed decently compared to three popular pre-workouts but fell short of being the best option. Let’s take a closer look.

Gorilla Mode

Gorilla Mode has gained an excellent reputation for delivering massive pumps and consistently performs best for our clients.

The team behind the popular nootropic Gorilla Mind Rush crafted Gorilla Mode, packing it with essential ingredients to help crush your workout.

This pre-workout contains high doses of L-citrulline, creatine monohydrate, and betaine. With 1000 mg more L-citrulline than Wrecked Pre-workout, Gorilla Mode greatly boosts nitric oxide and endurance [8].

I tested Gorilla Mode along with our volunteers, and nearly all of us experienced a significant strength boost, which our dietitians attribute to the good dose of creatine and GlycerPump® that add to the list of pump-enhancers [9].

Additionally, the group consensus was that Gorilla Mode is fast-acting and has superior mixing ability. L-Tyrosine plays a crucial role in cognitive improvement, and we saw a noticeable improvement to focus during our workout.

This pre-workout comes in a generous 40-serving tub and offers 14 delicious fruit-based flavors, with Tiger’s Blood being a must-try.

4 Gauge

Next up is 4 Gauge, an effective supplement with a good reputation among our clients and a collaborative effort between the manufacturer, top athletes, and nutrition experts.

Natural ingredients, such as caffeine, L-citrulline, and creatine monohydrate, make 4 Gauge effective for muscle recovery, strength, energy, and focus.

Our test users were impressed with the boosted focus and energy they experienced during intense workout sessions. The combination of caffeine and theanine provides mental focus and improved endurance.

One ingredient worth noting is the 6000 mg of L-citrulline in 4 Gauge, that, according to our dietitians, can increase exercise capacity substantially.

Unlike Wrecked and many other pre-workouts, 4 Gauge does not contain beta-alanine, which is a common cause of tingling side effects, and though not harmful, I find it to be incredibly distracting during workouts.

Additionally, 4 Gauge contains coconut water powder, which can aid in hydration [10]. It also has Rhodiola rosea, an ingredient with numerous health benefits, including assisting the body during stress and increasing exercise performance [11].

Transparent Labs Bulk

Transparent Labs Bulk  is an effective pre workout supplement that can enhance your muscle growth, energy levels, and endurance.

This supplement includes key ingredients such as L-citrulline, beta-alanine, and a substantial dose of BCAAs, which can help relieve muscle soreness. It also contains stimulant ingredients like caffeine and theobromine combined with L-Theanine and Dicaffeine Malate to prevent energy crashes.

PreSeries Bulk has only 180 mg of caffeine, a bit more than Wrecked, but still makes it a less stimulant-heavy pre-workout option that appealed to our test group users who wanted the energy boost without jitteriness.

Transparent Labs' formula includes smart combinations like Taurine and BCAA to ensure faster muscle recovery.

I experienced significant muscle recovery and decreased soreness while using PreSeries Bulk during our testing.

Where To Buy It

Holding a credit card when ordering online

When I talk to my clients about purchasing pre-workout or any supplement, I can’t stress the importance of buying from reputable sources.

It is not worth the risk to buy from a dodgy website just to save a few dollars.

You can purchase the Wrecked Pre-workout supplement right from the manufacturer’s website or you can purchase it on Amazon.

Both options are fine, but as we’ve seen from some user experiences, Amazon shipping seems to be more reliable.

Who Should Take Wrecked Pre-workout?

Workout enthusiasts looking to up their workout intensity, focus, and duration should take Wrecked Pre-workout.

The caffeine content should be enough to give most users an effective increase in energy and focus on bringing their workout to a higher level.

Our group of users reported increased energy, but most didn’t say massive pumps leading us to believe that there are better options for users looking for that.

Is Wrecked Pre-workout safe?

Yes, Wrecked contains all-natural ingredients generally safe for most individuals. The biggest caution is that it is a stimulant-heavy pre-workout supplement that can cause issues for some users.

Who Shouldn’t Take Wrecked Pre-workout?

A woman with a chest pain

You shouldn’t take Wrecked Pre-workout or any other dietary supplement if you have any pre-existing health conditions without consulting your doctor.

For example, creatine is found in many pre-workouts, and it should be avoided by users with liver or kidney disease and diabetes [12].

Caffeine is also found in most pre-workout supplements because, as a stimulant, it may increase focus and energy.

Users who have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or ulcers, high blood pressure, or arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) should avoid it [13].

What Users Say

We looked at the reviews from verified buyers on the Huge Supplements Wrecked Pre-workout website.

We liked that they included less favorable reviews and positive ones for transparency. Here are some examples from the mixed bag.

“Powerful! Had a strong workout with a real pump and plenty of sweat, the blend is awesome, and it surely does the work. I surely recommend.”

-Nathanael G, Huge Supplements Website

“Lots of energy, Good tingle, pump wasn’t all that good—very good price for quality product.”

- Spencer O, Huge Supplements Website

“Didn’t give more energy compared to other cheaper, tastier brands. The taste was terrible. Workout session was mid. Will try again, though, possibly just a bad day. Would not get the bombscicle flavor again though.”

- Aaron J, Huge Supplements Website

Our Verdict on Wrecked Pre-Workout

After analyzing the result of our testing for this Wrecked Pre-workout review, we concluded that it does give energy, but it doesn’t come close to hitting the mark for massive muscle pumps.

There are cheaper options for a simple energy boost, so we aren’t recommending our clients buy Wrecked Pre-workout, and we are backing Gorilla Mode instead.

It has a well-balanced formula with well-researched ingredients and doses, along with thousands of positive online reviews.

It’s also the one with which our clients and I have consistently had the best results in the gym, which is why I always feel confident recommending it.
